The feed ramp looks like pre-1972 FN barrels.

Love my FEG Hipower!

The ultra-stiff safety catch probably scared them off, along w/ the somewhat rudimentary vintage sights; FN finally came out with an improved safety [longer arm for more leverage], and Cylinder & Slide still makes go-fast competition parts for the GP35. As Ian pointed out, they're 100% FN-compatible clones, so aside from any minor parts fitting, there won't be any stumbling blocks to retrofitting upgrades to one, if you should choose to jump on a cheap example in good nick!

Was lucky enough to get a KBI-imported FEG Hi-Power ("PJK-9HP" iirc) and it is still one of my favorites for a day at the range. After cutting off ~ 2 coils of the overpowered mag safety spring, the trigger is radically improved (still left the safety operable instead of deactivating it, only because I'm still behind the Granola Curtain...) Has the classic GP35 flaw of a tiny safety catch with a HUGE resistance to movement; if I can ever find my spherical tuit and retrofit a larger modern safety lever to it with some better sights, I will have no further niggles. Everyone I have ever introduced it to has found it a pleasure to shoot. JMB and Dieudonne Saive made a pistol for the ages together...

they float around used regularly in germany. very cheap usually. they look nicely made. wouldn't jump one but none of those seem to be shot a lot for whatever reason. colt lookalike 38sp wheelguns by mauser, too. same story?
