Generally speaking, intermediate cartridge show up in the 1930s and are adopted in the 40s/50s.

Were there "intermediate" cartridges in use at this time or was that more of a post WW2 thing?

an italian owen. they placed the sights on the wrong side. the mag release and slot in the magazin body are BS but the bayo topfed and semi is awesome.

It sounds like other than magazine placement (and maybe the stupid lock for the bayonet), it is fantastic pistol-class carbine, and would be just as good today. And it's certainly prettier than most modern PC Carbines today.

I wonder if the "ejection port" is to prevent shooters from blocking ejection with their hand when holding the weapon.
