This Necromancer Just Wants to Plant Trees - Chapter 144

Peggy nodded vigorously. "You can once you turn into a fairy."
Matthew readily agreed. "Okay."
His interest in the fairy world had always been profound. So when he confirmed that the fairy's garden resembled a realm like Moon Haze Forest, Matthew gladly accepted Peggy's offer.
Peggy seemed thrilled. She took out a small wand and waved it energetically. "Don't resist, Matthew."
A series of pale green lights fell upon Matthew.
His body shrank rapidly.
In an instant, he transformed into a fairy about the same size as Peggy, a sprightly oak fairy.
Curiously, Matthew examined his changed form—his body had shrunk a hundredfold, sprouting thin wings on his back. With a thought, he could swiftly fly up and down in the air.
"Note: You've been transformed into an oak fairy by Fairy Princess Peggy! In this state, you can't use regular spells or abilities. You've gained the ability: Fairy Language!"
Matthew checked; most of his magical abilities had turned gray. Only "Equilibrium Perception" remained active. However, the three Wild forms were still retained, granting him some combat prowess if facing enemies.
"You've become so small, Matthew! How adorable!" Peggy approached, beaming. Her big, bright eyes exuded joy. She seemed much bolder now that Matthew had shrunk.
She circled around Matthew and then flew in front of him, nuzzling his nose with hers, a gesture seemingly affectionate.
Instinctively, Matthew tried to pull back, but Peggy stopped him. "Don't hide! It's a necessary step to enter the garden."
As she spoke, Matthew felt a rush of warmth on his nose. A faint magical power erupted from his nostrils, swiftly surging upward. Soon, he sensed a warm spot on his forehead where an arcane mark had formed.
"Tip: You've gained 'Peggy's Mark,' a proof of identity in the fairy world. Current identity: Peggy's little brother."
"Let's go!" Peggy joyfully took Matthew's tiny hand, and they flew swiftly towards the oak tree.
In no time, they passed through a narrow gap. After traversing the initial darkness, the landscape ahead brightened. Sunlight streamed from the sky, casting warmth upon the lush forest, revealing the Fairy's Garden.
"Is this the Fairy's Garden?" Matthew inquired, observing the surroundings. Suddenly, chatter emerged from a bunch of light dots fluttering amidst a dark blue grass pile:
"It's the 'Crybaby Princess Peggy'!"
"No, it's the 'Super Crybaby!'"
"Isn't it the 'Red-Nosed King'?"
"What's a red nose?"
"Silly, cry too much, your nose turns red!"
"Oh..."
Peggy grabbed Matthew's arm. "Let's go quickly!"
Curiously, Matthew asked, "What are they?"
Disdainfully, Peggy replied, "They're annoying 'Sinigrass' or 'Tag Grass Spirits.' They love labeling people with negative tags and mocking them all day."
"The front yard's woods are filled with them. Once labeled by one, others join in the mockery."
"I dislike them!"
Before Matthew could speak, the Tag Grass Spirits chimed in, "Yeah! Dislike us! So, we can mock you without guilt."
Soon, a sharp voice yelled, "There's a newcomer! Quickly tag him!"
Other spirits chimed in, "Let me, let me!"
The sharp voice overpowered the rest, "Let me see what suitable tags he has... Haha! Found it, 'Minotaur'!"
"The new fairy is a Minotaur!'
Confused, the spirits asked, "What does Minotaur mean?"
"I'm not entirely sure, probably means a marauder?"
"Why would a Minotaur be a marauder?"
"The Minotaurs I've seen are gentle, never take others' things."
"Tag Spirit Feifei, your tags are making our Tag Spirit family lose face!"
A heated argument erupted among the spirits.
Seemingly caught up in deciding which label to slap on Matthew, they ignored the flying pair above.
"The Fairy's Garden has four parts: Front Yard, Middle Yard, Rear Yard, and Heart of Flowers." Peggy explained as they flew.
"The Heart Fortress is in the sky of the Middle Yard. To reach it, we must use the 'Speedy Flower Pipes' in the Middle Yard. From here, we can swiftly reach the Middle Yard, pass through a portal, and get there."
"But I'm worried; there might be bad fairies guarding the portal," she said with concern.
"In the fairy world, can I turn into a raven or a moon bear?" Matthew asked.
Nervously, Peggy responded, "It's better not to. Fairy matters should be dealt with in fairy ways. If you transform into another creature, the grand fairies from the Arcane Wilderness will interfere."
"What's the fairy way?" Matthew inquired.
Somewhat crestfallen, Peggy replied, "Dancing."
"I'm not good at dancing, so I've always been bullied by them."
"Matthew, you surely can do it, right?" She looked at him expectantly.
Matthew fell silent.
Suddenly, on a nearby branch, he spotted a fairy with a big red underwear covering her head. She looked like a headless fly, buzzing around.
"That's 'Clumsy Ghost Pia Pia'!" Peggy noticed Matthew's gaze and nervously introduced her. "We better not go near her. Pia Pia is not only clumsy but mischievous too. She always does unexpected things; this might be one of her pranks!"
"She might be luring us into trouble!"
But Clumsy Ghost overheard Peggy. She shouted, "What's so great about teasing Crybaby? I won't bother picking on you!"
"Come help me take off this headscarf; I can't see a thing!"
"Please, please, help me, and I'll reward you later!"
Peggy pursed her lips.
Only Matthew, daringly, flew over. "I'll help you."
He was curious about everything in the garden; worst-case scenario, he'd be pranked, but Matthew could handle it.
With Matthew's help, Clumsy Ghost landed on the branch smoothly.
"I pulled hard, didn't I?" Matthew held the underwear edges on both sides of her head.
"Hurry, hurry! I can't wait to see again!" Clumsy Ghost's voice was full of anticipation.
Matthew tugged.
He ended up holding not one but three differently colored underwear pieces in his hand.
"Huh?"
"Why can't I still see?" Clumsy Ghost asked loudly.
"Did you pull?" Matthew looked amused at Clumsy Ghost's head. He had indeed pulled one red underwear, but inside was a pink one!
Pulling again, to his surprise, there was a blue one within the pink one.
Finally, Matthew retrieved three differently colored underwear pieces from Clumsy Ghost's head.
Clumsy Ghost could finally see again.
Her beauty exceeded Peggy's slightly, but her disheveled hair affected her appearance.
"Thank you, Minotaur!" Clumsy Ghost said cheerfully. "You're truly a good person. To thank you for helping me, I'll give
these to you!"
"These three scarves are from Witch Paralson's underwear. It took me a long time to steal them from her dog. Remember, you must put them in a crucible with a dead infant within three months to brew the 'Elixir of Immortality.'"
Saying so, she made a face at Peggy and flew deep into the woods.
"What was she talking about? Dead infants and elixirs? Did I mishear?" Clumsy Ghost looked innocent, but her words made Matthew shudder.
Peggy looked worried. "Witch Paralson has a bad temper. If someone steals from her, she'll definitely retaliate. Quickly hide the underwear; don't let others find them."
"As for Clumsy Ghost, she's always outspoken; no one knows what she's talking about."
Matthew nodded.
The two continued flying through the lush forest.
Compared to Moon Haze Forest, the Fairy's Garden was far more lively. Everywhere they went, they could hear the Tag Grass Spirits arguing.
As they passed by, they saw a fairy flying around naked. As they flew past, she unabashedly urinated in front of Peggy!
That scene shattered Matthew's previous fantasies about fairies.
Not long after, they flew away.
At a crossroads ahead, a crow-headed figure appeared, almost human-sized. He held a spear, blood still dripping from its tip. His expression was notably perplexed. As soon as he spotted Matthew and Peggy, he hurriedly asked, "Have you seen my wife?"
Peggy immediately tugged Matthew away, avoiding him. "Haven't seen her!"
"Haven't seen her!" Matthew echoed, catching the numerous meaningful glances Peggy shot his way.
They circumvented the crow-headed creature and hastened towards the central courtyard.
The crow-headed man hastily chased after them, shouting loudly, "If you see my wife, tell her to return home before dark! I've got my son cooking in the pot, and I just need her ingredient for the Elixir of Immortality!"
Matthew shivered at the words. "Are all the creatures in the Fairy's Garden this bizarre?"
He couldn't help but ask Peggy.
She pondered for a moment. "I don't recall from the earliest days when I was a tiny flower spirit."
"Back then, the Ice Queen presided over the Heart Fortress, and everything in the garden was serene."
"But when Queen Elsa vanished, some creatures here started acting strangely. Fortunately, there haven't been reports of them harming others."
While speaking, the trees ahead grew sparse, and a towering tree wall became visible, covered in vines with thorns and occasional small white flowers.
Peggy guided Matthew along the tree wall until they found a grand arched door, the gateway to the courtyard.
Oddly, no one was around the door, and Peggy grew nervous. "Oh no! There should be guards here. The news of me entering the garden might have leaked to the Tag Grass Spirits! They're likely hiding, waiting to bully us once we pass."
"The chief guard here is Sinwak, a Black Fig Fairy. She's always had it in for me; she won't let me in so easily."
She looked pale, indicating the deep fear Sinwak instilled in her.
"Black Fig Fairy?" Matthew's interest piqued. "Can't you take her on?"
Peggy lamented, "I'm not good at fighting or dancing, both of which Sinwak excels in. She always torments me before letting me go. I don't dare to go now."
"Any other way through the tree wall?" Matthew inquired.
Peggy shook her head. "No, the next door is too far. It's the domain of the Turtle Tyrant, scarier than Sinwak."
As they conversed, suddenly, a swarm of fairies burst from the bushes outside the door. The lead fairy, wearing black lipstick, had a voluptuous figure among fairies, making her quite a spectacle.
"Found you, Crybaby Lulu! Hahaha!" Her laughter was eerie, seeming contagious to her followers.
Even Matthew couldn't help but smirk.
The horde of fairies surrounded them, some being Flower Guards brandishing weapons with pride.
"Kowtow to Princess Sinwak!" one of the guards commanded Peggy.
Seeing this, Peggy trembled slightly, tears welling up.
Before Matthew could say anything, a stirring sensation swept through him.
One of his blessings was activating!
---
**Tip: Yu Lian's Devotion is activating. You realize that Sinwak, the Black Fig Fairy, originates from the Black Fig Dreamland as a natural spirit under Yu Lian's command. She's not a rainforest creature.**
You've gained partial information about Sinwak.
You've discovered "Sinwak's Weakness"!
Sinwak's Weakness: Despite being a princess, Sinwak can't refuse forceful demands from others. To compensate, she appears more forceful than others, often preempting requests or not allowing others to speak before making her own demands.
---
"You two, kowtow to me!" Sinwak declared haughtily. "One hundred times each, not one less, or you won't enter. Hurry up! Else, I'll have Bobo and Solinka strip you and parade you around!"
Initially considering transforming into a raven, Matthew opted for a new approach. Seizing Lulu's icy hand, he sternly addressed Sinwak, "You can't stop us from passing through!"
Sinwak was momentarily stunned. Before she could react, Matthew continued, "You must dismiss your followers! My command!"
One of the Flower Guards flared up. "What nonsense, Minotaur!"
But in the next moment, Sinwak quivered. "Leave... don't encircle them."
The guards were bewildered, but despite their unwillingness, they reluctantly obeyed.
Matthew assertively commanded, "Teach your followers a lesson! Not just kowtowing but slap them too!"
The guards went mad. "He's spouting nonsense! Why should we listen to him?"
But in an instant, they saw fear in Sinwak's eyes. She weakly ordered the guards, "Kowtow to them and slap yourselves."
The guards exchanged looks, begrudgingly complying with her orders.
Sinwak looked at Matthew in distress. "Please, stop this!"
But Matthew merely smirked. "You must apologize to Lulu!"
As he spoke, Sinwak erupted like a lit powder keg! She screamed and flailed wildly before flying to Lulu, bowing three times, "I'm sorry!"
After apologizing, she screamed and flew toward the door, "I won't let you off!"
"Cursed Minotaur!"
Sinwak fled swiftly, followed by her henchmen.
Seizing the opportunity, Matthew led Lulu past the gate and into the central area.
"How did you do
that? Why did Sinwak listen to you?" Lulu asked curiously, examining Matthew.
He smiled faintly, offering no explanation.
Sinwak's weakness was indeed lethal. Sharing it might compromise her survival here. It was better to hold her secret; it might come in handy later.
"Sinwak is under Yu Lian's command. Seems like there's tension between Yu Lian and the oak tree. Is her harassment of you also orchestrated by Yu Lian?" Lost in thought, they entered an area filled with vibrant flowers.
This space was more colorful than the previous one. Strange, colorful flowers and herbs caught Matthew's eye as they moved through.
Lulu led Matthew through the garden, and soon, they found clusters of suspended fluid among the petals. Yellowish, suspended between solid and liquid, with dark particles visible.
Excitedly, Lulu said, "This is the Windflower Nectar, our lucky day!"
With that, she guided Matthew to taste the nectar. After having a sip, Matthew felt more invigorated; he consumed several clusters, sensing his soul strengthening.
---
**Tip: You've consumed Windflower Nectar, slightly boosting your spiritual power. You've grasped a new ability: Mental Pierce.**
---
Feeling the benefits, both finished consuming the nectar.
Stomachs slightly bulging, they continued flying. Soon, Lulu found a "Swift Blossom."
Similar to a sunflower, it had elongated, tentacle-like petals along its edges. Once someone entered, it stiffened and propelled the entrant into the sky with magical energy.
Without hesitation, Matthew followed Lulu into one of the petals.
In no time, a powerful force sent him soaring upward. The forest beneath turned into a mere backdrop.
He ascended rapidly until the rise plateaued after several minutes, revealing a floating fortress adorned with an array of flowers.
"That's the Heart Fortress of the Ice Queen," Lulu said as they flew toward it. "Let's go; I need to get my crown and scepter from the High Priestess."
They navigated the castle walls unguarded and dilapidated in parts. At a bend in the wall, they encountered a humanoid figure sweeping.
Wrinkled with a disproportionately large head and a twig-like thin body, she seemed indifferent. "Hello, ma'am. Where can we find the High Priestess? I'm a newly-promoted fairy princess here to collect my scepter," Lulu inquired nervously.
The woman glanced coldly. "Oh? Are you prepared for the Elixir of Immortality?"
