The Guns of GoldenEye N64 (Ad-free)

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/headstamp/licensed-troubleshooter?ref=e0y2xl

We are really close to hitting the stretch goal to add a section on the Guns of GoldenEye N64 to Licensed Troubleshooter!

For a lot of people, James Bond was introduced not by Sean Connery, but by a 64-bit rendition of the world's most famous spy in GoldenEye for the Nintendo 64. It was a hugely popular game when it was released in 1997. Looking back at it today the graphics are pretty miserable, but it is still a touchstone for a whole generation. I am joined today by Caleb Daniels, author of "Licensed Troubleshooter: The Guns of James Bond" and we are going to play some GoldenEye and then discuss the guns that are featured in the game.

Hey Ian, who made your shirt? It reminds me of one of the old Paradise Found prints I wore working at Islands back in the day. [Man, what a great work uniform: aloha shirt and shorts. I even rocked the Magnum P.I. moustache back then!] Still love those old designs, it's hard to find any that rival them now...

The Phantom being based on the Spectre would *have* to be in *any* Bond game for the simple reason that Bond faced off against the criminal organization of SPECTRE in so many movies/books...

I was thinking more of a Wolfenstein game engine, but yeah, it's all much of a muchness...

Never saw the N64 version, just the Praystaysho' [iykyk] Goldeneye. Just rewatched the movie again last week. Forgot how much I enjoyed Brosnan's flavor of Bond and how much the game was actually an adjunct to the movie. The movie is more enjoyable once you've played the game.

never played that but ... man to graphs and models look bad. I spend TON OF TIME playing rainbow6 athena sword or ghost recon. athean sword had very good models actually.

Oh, I really wasn't much into games. This was one of just a couple exceptions.

Brings back memories of DOOM II with those graphics..

Thank you Ian and Caleb for that unexpected video. I would DEARLY love to see Ian do more "Let's Play" vids. I erroneously got the impression Ian was not a really into games. As to Golden Eye I of course know of it but at the time I still had a Sega Genesis and and a PS1 and being a starving college kid I could not afford the fancy-shmancy N64. I have always gravitated more towards RTS games like Dune and C&C and sims like 688 Attack Sub. It was a hoot seeing you two have fun though. Peaceful Skies

Brings back so many memories! With and without the Game Shark.

When Goldeneye came out, I was impressed with the attempts to capture some Russian firearm authenticity. Many are AKMs dressed to be 74 style, but the Krink was impressive.
