Creating my Shughart Black Hawk Down M14 Clone (Ad-free)

I figured it might be worthwhile to document the process of putting together my clone of Randy Shughart's M14 from 1993 Mogadishu...so here we go.

I do my MC's with rattlecans 😂 https://www.patreon.com/user?u=45254178 . I liked the 6colour chocChip. I assume for some parts in AZ and SW real good. like north africa maybe not so much.

Guido Schriewer

Where did you get the dummy selector and connector rod?

Richard Joy

I was thinking much the same, but don't forget, Ian's working from post-incident artwork and historical reports, so it may have been easier to just lay down the khaki and go back to add the little bit of brown. Doing a modern paint job one would be painting the partially masked action in situ, so that the barrel wouldn't give the whole game away, etc. Agree that either choc-chip or 3cD would be quite attractive, in an "evades the eye" kind of way... 😁

Bruce Brodnax

would be sick in chocolate chip or 3 colour desert (shield/storm) stuff. USGI TLBV is 556 so that won' t fit 762 mags but would look the part, so LC-2. next FINNISH brutality as there is so much arid desert up there? kidding.

Guido Schriewer

get the idea and LOVE rattlecan painting but why the FDE? stock was already brownish. would have masktaped some stripes of "worn edge" tape and do the sandish colour. some rough grid sandpaper strokes and "battleworn". maybe first watch https://www.patreon.com/posts/paint-your-ar15-37563077 COOL rifle. shortcommings or not I just like the 14.

Hasn't happened yet. The first suitable match I could get into with it is taking place this weekend. :)

Did I miss the vid where Ian did a match with this awesome gun or has it not been posted yet? As always, great stuff!
