Llama M87: Everything You Would Want for IPSC (at the time) (ad-free)

The Llama M87 was Gabilondo y Cia's high-end competition pistols based on the M82 action, and made in both 9mm Parabellum and 7.65mm Parabellum. This was mechanically a copy of the Beretta 92 system, and it was adopted in basic form by the Spanish Army. For the commercial market, Gabilondo took all the upgrades that were being popularly made to IPSC competition pistols, and put them all in place as factory features for the M87. This included good adjustable sights, and excellent trigger, flared magazine well, single-action FCG with an ambidextrous slide-mounted safety and also a frame-mounted safety, extended barrel, and extended beavertail tang. This made for a very good pistol, but at a very high price ($1450 in the late 1980s). It never saw much commercial success, and the Assault Weapons Ban of 1994 finally killed it commercially, as its magazines could no longer be imported.

Regarding Spanish guns I have always had a soft spot for Astra and Llama I particularly enjoy my "Llama MAX III 45 C/F" that I was able to purchase Very cheap as it was without any magazine and I was Warned against purchasing it as the general belief were the magazines were Impossible to be acquired so after I had done a bit of research into the company I decided to risk it's purchase and to my delight the Kimber double stack mag is a Perfect Fit and has given me many years of Exceptionally Service!!! 🤠👍

It has two safeties. Can they both be used at the same time or is it either/or? If they can be simultaneously engaged, will any one of the three safety levers deactivate? Also seems like a very minor deal to convert the mags to 10 shot for ignoramus import requirements.

don't get to compete in other regions. well maybe just over a border. in germany they made 9mm a minimum. the 7,65 puzzles me if spain had other rules or.... . WHAT reset. that is like a funswitch on it.

No, that was the M82.

Forgotten Weapons
