The Very Rare FN CAL at the Range (ad-free)

The FN CAL (Carabine Automatique Legere) was Fabrique Nationale's first attempt at a 5.56mm rifle, and it was not successful. They replaced it with the FNC, which saw much wider success. The CAL is quite scarce today, and it was a very cool opportunity to take one out to the range! It performed rather better than I expected, to be honest...

noticed. have to watch the old vid, too.

Actually, I'm not correct either, the bolt is rotating, so that's different from the FAL, but it doesn't have the same setup of like 7 or 8 locking lugs like on a Stoner. Rather it has four, and they're spaced very differently, with two on each side of the bolt head, one in front of the other.

It uses a rotating bolt similar to an AR18 or Stoner 63, so it's pretty different.

FN FAL guts shrunk down to 5.56 size.

Good looking weapon

well heat did a not too bad job showing the reloads and movement. I assume ar18 guts, huh. looks cooler than the fnc with the fal like stock.

Surprisingly little climb on that full mag-dump.

A range video on a Monday is a rare treat!
