Inkunzi Strike 20mm Grenade Machine Gun (ad-free)

Tony Neophytou developed this for Denel Land Systems, which has completely fallen apart as a company and left it now as his own independent design, with no manufacturer. I filmed this video in 2018, to show the prototype version of the Strike, which has since been improved and further developed. Perhaps some day it can find a manufacturer?

I think a comparison of the different calibers of small arms in terms of range, trajectory, terminal effect, and carrying weight would be an interesting video. How do 5.56, 6.5 Creedmore, 6.8 SPC, and 7.62 compare to one another in actual use in an infantry rifle? And how do they compare to 0.338 and 0.50 in machine gun use?

James Steed

I think the US is committed to replacing the .50 M2 with .338 Magnum medium machine guns - but the Inkunzi Strike and PAW would be a good alternative pairing for that role for smaller countries that don't want a magnum caliber MG.

Forgotten Weapons

What do you see as the role of the Strike? Could it displace the M2 0.50 cal and Mk 19 40 mm as the standard vehicle mount as it offers more destructive power than the M2, but flatter trajectory and response time than the Mk 19 (all with a reduction in bulk and weight)?

James Steed

yeah but the ammo would weight A LOT. can't think of an infantry outfit on foot carry ammo for that. vehicle.. sure. more in the toolbox right. but hump those chains on foot? nicely thought out design though. lots of points to grease. must eat a whole can during cleaning. there is really much more to it than the outside looks like.

Guido Schriewer

That looks like a nearly 'grunt proof' design.

Sounds like a gentleman the Ukrainians could put to work if they have a factory in the western side of the country that has the capabilities to produce weapons and ammo.

This man needs to be higher this guy

It's a possible solution to a problem that will exist soon- Land or surface based drones that need more to put down quickly than a 7.62 MG bullet.

Robert Rowe

Obviously it could scale DOWN to the Дегтярёва-Шпагина Крупнокалиберный 12.7×108mm cartridge without needing to change feed belt or several dimensions of the feed system- But the Dushka already exists! Persons wanting 12.7×108mm belt fed HMG probably buy the Kord today. Scaling UP requires developing a whole new feed system- And as Ian noted, feed system development is often the most challenging aspect of new repeating weapon systema.

Robert Rowe

An impressive design.

EyeBall

Well, I'm impressed! Does this design lend itself to scaling up or down for different calibers (.50 or 40mm, etc)? Also, nice job on the video, Ian.

Thomas Batha

Yes! The tray cover brought back nightmares.

The barbecube

I like this gun more than the Mark 19 based on disassembly alone.
