When I trained with PVS14s in 25th ID, we put them over our left eye and looked down the M68 with the right. The thought was that it would merge into a single image. Didn't really work for me...

I was stationed in Korea about 4 years ago and we would do night ranges pretty often. We had night vision goggles strapped to our helmets and we would more so follow tracer rounds than actually aim. I wasn’t in a combat role anyway so our training was really just to check the box saying we did it rather than train to kill. That being said, do you think it’s better to have a night vision optic mounted to your face or your weapon if you could only choose one or the other? Best regards!

I know a little bit about the Foreign Legion but I rarely hear about any of their roles in conflicts. Are there any noteworthy events that they were involved with? What kinds of roles do they typically get assigned to?

Would we have seen the introduction of self loading rifles sooner given the French tendency for trying to hit not just one, but two steps ahead of its fellow powers, at least during that period
