USSR = Union of Soviet Socialist Republics . . . I took a course called "Soviet Politics" in 1989; the same year such courses switched to "History" from "Political Science." Great episode, by the way! The animated film "Iron Giant" captures the cold war paranoia from a kid's perspective really well - satellites, nukes, and sci fi....
