I was good friends with Poppyseed Dancer for about three years.
But we had a massive fallout in 2020, and sadly, that friendship ended in flames.
Consequently, despite some excellent shots, I didn’t feel like publishing anything we had created for a long time.
But I’ll start posting some of the ones I have never shown onwards.
This set is from our first solo shoot (I booked her for a two-day workshop in the days before the shoot).
The Last image shows how vital adaptability is:
The weather didn’t exactly play nice, but driving into Mölle, Sweden we were graced by the most fantastic sunset:
Registering that we should shoot here took a few seconds, but parking was impossible, so I turned the car around (twice) and parked in a non-hazardous spot.
By then, the magic light rays were gone (compared to the video), but still gorgeous.
Poppy set up her phone to film through the windscreen, and we shot for about four minutes.
A few cars drove past, so we had to get off the road.
Then, a bus full of people went past.
And then the sun and its glow were gone, and the opportunity had passed.
And in case you wonder, the trees did not naturally dip under her fingers.
The first shot ƒ2.8 1/500 sek
Second (Arabesque) ƒ6.3 1/500 sek
The rock ones are ƒ 3.2 / 1/400 sek
The last shot was ƒ2.8 1/400 sek to freeze the motion.
How do you handle the emotional and professional impacts of fallouts with collaborators, if you photograph, I’m sure you’ve run into fallouts or “the jealous boyfriend” syndrome)?
