Kaylee Killion in Casablanca

Or rather, it was in FD Photostudio in Downtown LA a few years ago.
It’s natural light from some fabulous studio windows.

As yesterday’s image, this was shot with my vintage 50mm ƒ0.95 Canon dreamlens, and frankly, I screwed up on the last image.

When shooting at ƒ0.95, you have to choose between eyelashes and eyes being in focus, and it’s very easy not to get the focus right.
But while building my post-processing masterclass, I found a way to remedy out-of-focus images:
You make two Highness sharpen layers, set to Linear light, turn one layer off, and set the other so overall sharpness is good. Then you turn on the other and increase the High-Pass to as much as it needs to be (2.4 here), then make a layer mask that hides the effect of the layer.
And then “paint” in the sharpness you need - like eyes, eyebrows, etc.

And in case you wonder, I have not tried the Topaz Sharpen, although their marketing hype claims they can fix things like this; I limit the number of external tools needed when editing.
