When shooting with Isi Luxova a few months ago, she asked me to shoot some lingerie images, and I agreed.
I used to shoot lingerie when I did advertising, and consequently declined shooting any kind of underwear the first 5-6 years after starting to shoot nudes.
Having done it professionally, I’ve made all the possible "mistakes," and I have to work hard to "unlearn" them again.
I try to care less about a twisted bra strap - but it's something that has been drilled into me, so it's hard to let go.
I don’t create images to sell lingerie (anymore);
I create images to show how beautiful women are.
And hopefully, make you fall just a little bit in love with them.
I’ll list why none of these images would work in a lingerie catalog.
Image #1:
There is a crease in the panty on her right side. Fail
Her nipple is not centered in the right bra (incorrect circumference lighting or a tight shoulder strap). Fail
Her outer labia protruding outside the pants: Fail.
Image#2
Outer labia again: Fail
Her right bra is creasing on the top. Fail
The center clasp on the bar is not centered. Fail
Image#3
Her right bra strap is twisted. Fail
Clasp not centered: Fail
Right bra cup is too high: Fail
Crease in the panty: Fail.
When you work commercially, the product you photograph is the star; the model is simply a clothes hanger.
Would any of these flaws be a problem for you?
