kookmineve

Thank you so much for sharing so much in this video! <3 Loved learning about you and your communication, I've said it before you seem so healthy and admirable yet real and not idealised! I think you're doing a wonderful job of communicating and explaining yourself.

Lela

lol I don’t know why you would tell them that instead of letting them see the actor on their own and recognizing him on their own

channie’s cafe

I love your guys' relationship so much. I'm learning a lot. <3

Koreans usually add an ah~ sound or a ya~ sound in the end of people's names they close to depanding on the vowel that they end on. It's used to people you are close that on the same herichy level as you or lower so people that were born in the same year as you or younger then you. For example namjoon was born in 1994 so the members that are older then him that were born before 1994 will call him a lot of the times namjoon-ah and hobi was born in the same year as namjoon so he can also call him like that too but the members that are younger, that were born after 1994 won't call him that and will call him namjoom hyung

I'm so happy that you guys reacted to this drama🫶. Can you watch two episodes a week? It's so hard to wait a week😂

babymong

Steph! Second time watching this reaction. First time watching I told myself gotta comment on your sweater jersey. absolutely love it. So cute and cozy!!!.

Fun Fact: Since you guys were able to point out them adding "-ah" to the end of names, I thought I should explain that this honorifics practice is where the nickname "Hobi" for j-hope comes from So, the BTS members typically refer to J-hope as "Hope" by either saying "Hobi" or "Hoba." In doing so, they're saying "Hope" in the Korean pronunciation + the "-ah" ending or an "-ee" ending. The only difference of when it's Hobi vs Hoba is based on whether they're speaking directly to J-hope or if they're just speaking about him So, when they're speaking to J-hope, they'll switch to Hoba, and when they're speaking about him, you'll hear them say Hobi (Hop-ee) "Hobi" has since just become his nickname (particularly for international fans), so when the members say Hobi or Hoba they’re literally just calling him Hope (in Korean pronunciation) and the younger members will call him Hobi-hyung.

Nice catching the "-ah" that they're adding to the end of people's names! You've actually been hearing it for years through BTS content. The addition of "-ah" to the end of names is a part of the Korean honorific system. It's meant to signify closeness since being on a first-name basis in Korean is relatively rare (they're much more likely to be formal (this is when they'll add -ssi, pronounced "she", to the end of ppl's names) or use titles such as hyung, noona, oppa, etc. when in close relationships). So, adding "-ah" at the end of someone's name refers to them informally and affectionately, reflecting the closeness of their relationship. There's actually a lot of nuance regarding how characters feel about each other based on how they address each other (like when Hae-In is mad at Hyun-woo, so says his full name, Baek Hyun Woo, instead of just saying Hyun Woo) that you can only catch if you know Korean and are listening to what the characters are saying, since it's not really something that can be translated well through subtitles

Ahjusshi_Brown

I love you guys. As a fan, I'm so happy that you guys are willing and able to share so many vulnerable moments and conversations with us ❤️

Ahjusshi_Brown

im glad that you guys are listening and picking up the way they are saying their names! If you watch bts content, you will notice that the older members will call the younger members' names followed by "-ah" ("jungkook-ah", "taehyung-ah", "jimin-ah")

nylecoj

The mean girl at the party is from Vincenzo. She’s the wife of the guy who also played the funny North Korean soldier in Crash Landing on You

Selena Nguyen

I fell into the same trap of listening to the phonetic pronunciations and for a LONG time, I thought a character's name that ended with "yi" was pronounced "yuh" and it messed with me so bad when I brought it up to the korean church ladies I would visit with told me that it's just an endearment kind of thing like "chan" or "kun" in Japanese. 😅 so you'll see ones like "Taehyung-i" for V, or in this case "Hae-in-a" (other comments explain it better though) This show is so freaking funny 😂 I'm so excited for some of the surprises that will crack you guys up. Also bitchy lady at the party, isn't she from the Glory too? The "dumb friend?" Oooh I love you explanation on the love bucket thing! I'm going to write that down.

I LOVED this reaction sooo much ! ♡

Leenseoh

You guys are awesome i love your conversations and insight

Sheetal Chand

When you call someone affectionately or if they're hiearchaly (? spelling) on the same or lower level than you, you add -ah to the end of their name of it if it ends with a consonant and -yah if it ends with a vowel. So they're saying Hae-In-ah because that's his wife, or their daughter or friend.

Hanan Haliru

1:39:30 - Yessss i love that you guys are listening to learn their names!! The -ah/-ya ending you hear being used after names is just a vocative particle, but other than that you guys are saying it right, it's 'hein' (romanized hae-in)!

tannie misser

Your conversations are why I wanted you guys to watch this show so bad. It has a lot of topics about marriage and relationship dynamics. Loved this reaction and can't wait for next week!

Sjfyy_

Now I gotta wait another week😔

Fortune

Also, -아 (-a) or -야 (-ya) to someone's name is a common term of endearment in Korean. It's used to show closeness, affection, or familiarity, especially with loved ones, close friends, or younger people. My ex taught me this haha. In this case, Hae-in’s Hae-ina is also like that

Md Sheam Bin Sayhid

Wes actually nails character recognition. He’s indeed from Glory! And he’s in Squid Game S2 too

shayna

that love bucket talk was the loveliest thing 🥺🫶 i'm watching this for the first time with you guys and i'm already so invested in this show aaaaaa next week can't come soon enough 🤍

Nele

The actress y’all recognized is from Vincenzo! She owned the pawnshop with her husband

bizarre☆azar

Her name is Haein but when calling someone in korean it's normal to add "ah" at the end if they are younger/same age, Haein-ah. That's why hyunwoo is saying it like that. If they are older they add hyung, noona, unnie or oppa depending on the gender, or they add shi or nim if more formality is needed. For example seokjin hyung, yoongi oppa or jimin shi

may⁷

I love to watch this show again with you guys:) and I really like your discussion as marriaged couple! My mom also loved this show and she cried while watching this show even she was who barely cries😂 I'm sure you guys eventually get attached to the main characters🥰

I was worried about him telling the friend too but I just realized, he just agreed to be his lawyer so he is subject to confidentiality clause.
