Belzen "on the rocks"

A couple of months ago, I brought Belzen to Sweden to shoot on the black rocks of Kullaberg.

White skin juxtaposed with dark rocks is an exquisite combination, making it easy for the model to stand out from the background.

A few people have asked how I can afford to do trips like this, so let me let you in on a bit of that:

First, I’m very privileged that many models like my images and want to shoot with me collaboratively.

And whether I do that or pay the model, getting a reasonable rate for extended projects is easier.

Generally, I prefer to shoot in the mornings and evenings because of the light.

It is much easier to do that when I can find accommodation near the location, so I try to find a B&B or Airbnb near where I want to shoot.

So I would typically pick up the model sometime midday/early afternoon, drive for a couple of hours to the accommodation, check-in, and then go to the location and shoot for 2-3 hours.

Then, I find a restaurant or cook food if I have a kitchen and sleep.

Then, get up before dawn the following day, drive to the shoot location for 2-3 hours, return to accommodation, and have breakfast around 10 am.

And then drive back to Copenhagen.

If it works, I might add in extra accommodation. If that is the plan, I would try to get an Airbnb we can shoot in to further give different opportunities and the possibility to do something midday even if it is raining or the sun is too harsh.

Most traveling models like this as it gives them free dinner and accommodation in a day's work, and they can do a half day's work on both days for shorter bookings.

For me, it means one-half of my shoots (mornings); I’ll usually have a location all to myself. And I can squeeze in more different locations as I can choose a new general area every time.

To sum it up, there are three “tricks”:
