FON can have high upside in 2 main situations. the 1st situation is when your opponent is casting very expensive spells you can counter for free, this is a large tempo victory and can be worth losing 1 card for. The second situation is when you have a threat that can create a big advantage to regain the lost card with FON, for example Ragavan or Murktide. I believe in order to maindeck FON you need to construct your deck to maximize the second scenario in case the first scenario ends up not being true (Modern is very efficient and some decks just don't cast many non-creature spells that cost 3-4 mana). 2023-06-19 04:12:40 +0000 UTCWhat do you think of 1-2 MB Force of Negation instead of Thought Scour? I feel like TS tends to either be really good when you end up milling the right cards, but kind of a blowout if you mill the wrong ones. FoN, on the other hand, doesn't enable an early Murktide or Delirium, but seems to be more stable and allows you to tap out more efficiently on G1.
