Way back when (in 17+18 I made two 2-week trips around Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico with Roarie Yum, Sekaa Chavez, and Willa Prescott.
The goal was to produce my book Venus On Mars, juxtaposing the delicate feminine body against the deserts of the beautiful Southwest.
This particular series is from a gorgeous day when we had obtained permission to hike The Subway:
It’s a long strenuous hike.
First, an l1000ft/300m descent on loose Gravel.
Then a couple of hours hiking up a river, either walking in the river or trying to jump stones. They bypass a couple of Slippery-as-hell obstacles before you get to the subway.
To shoot nudes, you need the place for yourself, meaning you have to leave pre-dawn.
We first shot at a waterfall on the way as I judged it would be in full sun when coming back.
Then shot for an hour at the subway, and other people started to appear. Then, hike back through the river and up the 1000ft/300m loose gravel steep hill.
It was frost when we started out and hot in the afternoon, and one of the models dehydrated during the last ascent, so we needed a lot of help (and first aid from ice cream afterward).
Then we drove by a deserted ghost town, shot a single set, drove for an hour and a half, and had dinner with friends.
