Future of RoyalCandy
Added 2021-02-18 08:41:09 +0000 UTCHello guys,
As most of you know I had to take some time off from RoyalCandy and here is why.
Last year when I started to work on Rejected No More I told myself that this would be the best game there is, which means that I'll be able to do this full time so for the past few months I neglected my day job and actions have consequences.
I won't go too much into details, but the idea is that I will not be able to keep on working 6-8 hours a day for developing games.
On top of that Bishop decided to move away from RoyalCandy, he's no longer part of our team, which means I'm back all alone. The game didn't had the success we have hoped for so he decided to pursue his own game.

Going forward with the game will get harder, because in this type of game for everything to make sense I have to add a lot of content.
Just so you imagine how much work had to be done for this, Bishop did 80% of the renders and I worked double the hours he did on writing text, creating the UI, making all the scenes, lights, mini-games, implementing features and so on.
So I decided that Rejected No More will no longer be my main project. I love this game and the idea behind, but we're still far away from it being what I dreamed of, so that's why I'll keep on working on this game in the background and when there will be enough content and story developed to make sense I'll release a new version.

Soon after I told you that I'll need some time, I came up with an idea. Given the fact that I'm no longer able to work as much as before and Rejected No More needed plenty of dedications and hours I decided to start a new game that I'll be able to maintain on a monthly basis.
The No More Money game is a visual novel much like our previous game No More Secrets.
The story begins when our landlord's company went bankrupt and everybody had to move to a different city in a smaller apartment with only two bedrooms. It's been hard for everybody, but I'm sure the MC will find a way to put his household back on it's feet.
To earn money our MC will have to get a job, but be careful, because the job you choose will have impact on the development of the character. In episode 1 you'll be presented with two jobs. One will lead to a more caring, nice type of guy, while the other will lead to a bad boy.
RELEASE DATE
During this time I worked like crazy after work, because I wanted to give you something this month and the first episode is almost completed.
The text is already done and fixed, all the scenes are ready, the UI is mostly done, so the only remaining part of the development is to wait for my machine to finish rendering and then I'll have to fix some of them.
So next week all my patrons will get a new game, which I promise, if you liked No More Secrets, you'll like this even more.
The story is more interesting, the choices have more effect, the renders are better and on top of that we have animations and music.
UPDATE
I received messages both on my email, patreon, discord about my decision. So let me explain a little bit better.
Some of you know that creating a sandbox in RenPy is not an easy task. The game engine was not designed for this. Also I had to prepared around 50 different locations for this game, that's why I hired Bishop so he can work on the renders you have seen, while I focused on programming, UI, locations, new characters, computer apps, mobile apps, mini-games and so on.
In doing this I have spent around 1.500 hours, which affected my job. I worked very shallow on my job, which lead to me being fired. Bishop didn't want to risk the same fate, because we worked in the same company, so he decided to leave. As I was saying he did 80% of the renders.
For this new game I did all the programming part and UI in one day and the rest of the days I spent on writing the story, making characters and creating the scenes. I already have the location from Rejected No More, so that meant it was easy to start full on story.
On Monday I have started to work for another company, so from now on I'll be working 10-12 hours a day, which means I can only work 2-4 hours on a game. So this amount of hours for Rejected No More was pants. I can't do shit in this amount of hours for a game like Rejected, while for a visual novel I have spent 90 hours and the first episode is done, with around 300 renders, 10 animations and more than 30 minutes of gameplay.
Best regards,
Jason

Just want to see Christine again, maybe with a different name, or a different identity, as long as I can see that face and the figure. Please.
