This is an original storyboard thumbnail page I drew for the episode "An Indirect Kiss".
It's part of one of my favorite scenes that I got to work on during my time on SU. There was a lot of freedom given with the setting and blocking which gave me the opportunity to work the two together.
Originally Rose's figure was going to be towering over Steven, with the focus on "strength". Steven would have been struggling moreso with the idea of not being a strong enough warrior to physically follow in her footsteps.
Instead of large I suggested we try making the figure "human" sized. Steven already has the portrait back home that towers over him. I thought what might be more jarring and uncanny is to see Rose at the size she would have been, had they know eachother.
In addition to this, Stevens inner turmoil is centered more around the hole he feels in his heart when people talk about Rose around him. All he knows is... a void, when others see such beautiful things and are sobbing over her loss. At this point, He's jealous that he never got to know those qualities in her for himself.
