Originally there was no song planned for the episode. I conceptualized it a lot based on the Roy Orbison song "In Dreams":
"I close my eyes then I drift away

The reason I gravitated toward this song is that not only can it be looked at as a sad longing, but it can also be said to go "a little too far" into obsession.
David Lynch saw this potential when he used it in his film "Blue Velvet."
When we pitched the episode, I asked Rebecca if she would want to add one for us, based on Roy Orbison's song. She said yes and we got a song!
