Paul and I were really sympathetic to Ronaldo. Having always been the weird kids ourselves, we could definitely relate on some level.
For his element of disillusionment, I suggested to Paul that we reference The King of the Hill episode "Pretty Pretty Dresses" where Bill has a genuine psychological break.
We don't think Ronaldo is so detached that he "normally" clubs children. He was in a state of utter brokenness.
