Sketch to lineart video: Goldberry
Added 2023-07-04 05:01:00 +0000 UTCI always see these little reels on Instagram, of artists pretending that this is how lineart works. 😂 It is kind of magical. And of course totally glosses over just how long lineart takes (here, a relatively quick two hours).
Fun fact: It took me ages to understand what kind of flowers Goldberry loved, because of another mistranslation in the German Lord of the Rings. There, they translated "water lilies" literally as "Wasserlilien", which exist in German but are a different flower (namely, gladioli). So In my head, Tom plucked these long stalks of flowers and just threw them in the vats at her feet like so many soggy Mikado sticks. 🤣
You might argue that "Wasserlilien" fits the metre of Tom's speech while "Seerosen" does not, but this didn’t bother the translator in other places either. I had to read the Lord of the Rings in English before I realised Tom always uses the cadence, even when he’s not singing, as the German translator either didn’t notice or didn’t care...
