So yes - that project I started in 2020 which then was cut short by my worsening eyes? I'm ready to revisit that! For those of you who joined after that, or could use a refresher, here's what I have:
It started with the above illustration, with no real intention of a full thing developing from it, but I quickly fell in love with the idea and the setting and two protagonists were born: Rick, an adventurer finding her place in a hostile world (vaguely post apocalyptic but with cute animals), and Nib, a young squirrel who lost her parents but holds some important secret. (The KEY she's holding has since turned metaphorical.)
More sketches, in polychromos, pencil, and watercolour:

Nib's little toy is Flupp the Bat, who is an actual toy from my now-eighteen year old son. (We had three of them, so he could always have one while the others were in the wash or thrown out of the stroller never to be seen again.)

A wise old cybernetically enhanced Raven (and Rick). He still needs a name which is fittingly pretentious. My current thought is Theobald, but I think we can go more pretentious.

Ideas for fearsome foes, but I think I'll go sliiiightly less ridiculous and more terrifying, though the slug mutant will definitely get a cameo.
Hilarious little side note: The fabric cutter the ant is wielding is by the label "PRYM", which for about six months tried to insert itself as autocorrect whenever I tried to type "Orym", until I managed to convince it that, no, I wasn't referring to fabric cutters.

My favourite supporting character - Jeff the bonkers pheasant commando who wants to start a pheasant's revolt. The apocalypse did not treat him kindly. Or, as my mother jokingly said about her mother-in-law: "Yes dear, YOUR war was the worst."
So yes - I can't wait to delve into this one! What I'll do is less a comic, graphic novel or picture book, but single illus and sketches with writing snippets, and we'll see where that leads! I've done some story plotting and I have a lot of good stuff. =D
