Let's do this again...

I wasn't happy with the colour scheme in the last attempt - too dull - so I gave it another start. You probably know how much I dislike doing scenes in the dark, which is a pity, as about 60% of my favourite scenes take place between the Darkening of Valinor and the first rising of the Sun, haha. I've often been accused of doing these scenes too light, and I've long noticed that those accusations don't come as often when I employ a red colour scheme. (And then, of course, he's just been in a battle with Balrogs and now his body is falling to ash, so this might be excused for being all red!)

It's a colour scheme that worked well for the Oath, so I'm shamelessly recycling it here.

Let's do this again...

Loved it for the oath. And this too!

PL

Good thing you can print it out from the lineart then 😦

Kim Lapere

Absolutely, yes!

Jenny Dolfen

No, I went back to the lineart (printed it out again) and started the whole painting job from scratch. And will have to to it again, as I just completely botched Feanor. :/

These colours are definitely working for me too. Very atmospheric.

Ewa Kuczynski

I love those colours, they fit the scene perfectly!

Litsen

OMG that would look terrific right next to the Oath.

Ninchen

I like it that your art that depicts scenes that should be rather dark aren't super dark - all the better to see the lovely details :) But if you reuse the colour scheme that worked well for your wonderful, dynamic Oath painting, isn't that fitting in a good way? Since Fëanor has just asked his sons to hold to the oath. The oath is very present even at the moment of his death.

You didn't start over did you? Just changed the colour scheme and went over the top?
