... and sharpening my pencil literally every minute.

... and questioning my decision to put them all in plate armour. Artistically and historically. But I can't pass over the opportunity to show off the sort of craftsmanship that shortened  Fëanor's twelve-year exile. XD

Ah, I strongly disagree with that idea, but you probably knew that. :)

Maitimo... he kneled as Prince and rose up as King. Pity, for a short time. So pity. I'm sure he would have been better King then Fingolfin.

The closest of the bonds in all of Middle Earth. In multiple senses of the word.

I'm still debating what to make how brilliant. My initial idea was to make Fëanor burn white-hot (which he should be as he's about to fall to ash), but I haven't ruled out just making the soul bright. I don't like harsh contrasts in watercolour, but there'll be a modicum of them here, of course. :)

Thought: Have you considered painting in high contrast due to the brilliance of his passing soul? Bright highlights but deep black crisp shadows? Would be striking and appropriate but also save you a lot of pencil details 😅 (ex - foreground sons would be mostly silhouette, Maglor might be in a fair amount of shadow behind Maedhros depending on where you put the fiery source of light.).

He'll be. I'll bust him up later; and he'll end up with a lot of very serious burns...

The one thing I can't stop thinking about are Fëanor's wounds - for the moment he seems pretty unscathed in the lineart. And yet "Fëanor bade them halt; for his wounds were mortal" - so he should be in a pretty bad shape, shouldn't he?
