Maglor pin takeover
Added 2019-04-03 15:04:22 +0000 UTCYou'll remember this was originally planned as Finrod's pose, but since Maglor was also high on the list, I ended up having no idea how I'd do Maglor if Finrod got the harp, so he got it.
My idea was to do Finrod with a stylised ring of Barahir/maybe just the crown of golden flowers, as a symbol of sacrifice. Fingon - I'm not sure. Something with Thorondor? Or with his bow? Though that opens a lot of composition issues; the harp here is about as much "white background" as I want to do. Any ideas? Maybe on horseback? No idea if a horse is feasible as a pin - I've never seen one!
(Oh, and as Anja just reminded me, if Fingon and Maedhros are to work as a pair, Fingon can't have stuff. Or a horse.) :)
My colour matching Pantone book is set to arrive tomorrow, so tomorrow, I'll order the next batch of pins! The Pantone book is actually the second one I bought this week, after managing to let myself be scammed on Ebay. I've never heard from the seller again, and looking up her profile, I blanched to see that her reviews were 61% positive, with the negative ones all reading "Finally got refunded after threatening to call the police".
I'm too good a person to understand why such people exist, and how they can bear to look at themselves in the mirror each morning.

Maglor is known to be the best musician from the Noldor, so the harp is appropriate (although it is true that Finrod has the well-known story and even the peculiar heraldic device, but there are surely other ways to depict him). I would say bow is a very good attribute for Fingon, both for his rescue of Maedhros, and for the events of your recent picture, featuring the Great Worm. :-)
