First paint layers

The colour scheme here owes itself to two things: first, the desire to do something pastelly/smoky/semi-opaque... and well, the fact that I just got myself a few pastelly, smoky, semi-opaque new paints from Daniel Smith. =D They've just released a range of new greys, and since I declared myself to be in my grey phase this winter, it was obvious I needed to give them a go!

The main paint used here right now is Grey Titanium, which is a warm, semi-opaque, dirty yellow-grey. I added some Naples Yellow for good measure, as well as some Cerulean Blue in the sky, in tiny quantities.

Would anyone be interested in seeing some process thoughts on this - how to make reference and picture idea influence each other until they reach a balance, how to work reference into your piece with little perspective tricks, and how to make a dynamic composition? Let me know! The more interest there is, the more effort I'll put into the tutorial, hee.

Yes, yes and yes!! Would love to see any of your wisdom on process!

It’ll be great to see anything about the process!

The composition of this piece is great, and the colours look promising! Very, very interested in a tutorial! I am certainly not so bold to call myself an artist, but I love to fool around with pencils, brushes and colours, for fun. Unimplemented childhood dreams, I guess... πŸ˜ƒ

Sounds fun πŸ˜‰

Can't wait to see the finished piece! Love your new slogan by the way. Art. And pins. And art pins. FTW. And stuff. ;)

This looks awesome, I am looking forward to see more. And I would definitely appreciate your tips about working with reference.

Looking good! I'm no artist, but I've shown some of your YouTube tutorials and processes to my students and they learn a lot from them. I've also shown them the coffee tutorial from your site. ^^

I won't be able to put any of your advice about reference, perspective and composition to proper use, but I'd absolutely love to read it in the hope that I'll be able to absorb at least some little part of it! I already enjoyed your old watercolour technique tutorials, and I love the dynamics of your paintings, so I'd definitely appreciate learning some more tricks of the trade.
