Inktober has been an incredible thing for me on a personal level. I've let on in some of my posts this year how hard a time I was having with my art, but I never told you that there were times when I really thought of giving up art altogether. I just couldn't see myself doing it at all. The thought didn't even scare me, which is rather frightening in retrospect.
At the end of September, I bought a little A5 pad of drawing paper and ten mats. I told myself that ten was probably all I was going to finish, if that - I could always use the others for prints. Or something.
To do a drawing a day, and more importantly, posting it even though I wasn't 100% happy with some, proved absolutely cathartic. It's incredible to look at my Instagram and see the sheer mass of black and white that says "you actually did it". A month ago, picking up a pencil and drawing something seemed like such a terrible effort - now, last weekend, I took my sketchbook to crowded places like cons again and sketched stuff at bar tables next to chips and crepes.
Now, to keep that going!!

You did an incredible job, completing all of these drawings in such a short amount of time. You conquered so much!

2017-11-01 16:09:57 +0000 UTCNo, that's perfectly fine! Note me with how you'd like us to take this. Do you know my "Tom Theisman hitting the bottle" piece, by the way? If you do a Google images search for "Thomas Theisman", a whole three of my oooooooooooooold pictures come up. I really loved him, too!

2017-11-01 15:01:20 +0000 UTCA question-- I would love to claim the Honor Harrington piece (I feel the same way about Theisman that you do about Andy!) but I could only pay in installments. Is that possible or should I let it go to another home?

2017-11-01 13:15:51 +0000 UTCNow *I* welled up. <3 Thank you!

2017-11-01 07:26:31 +0000 UTCI will be honest - I welled up when I read that you almost gave up art. I just cannot imagine you not sketching and painting. It is not just that I would miss your Noldor and your heartwarming and witty posts so indescribably, but it pains me to think of how you would have felt not being able to do one of the things you love doing most. I am so glad this month helped you to find some of your joy and enthusiasm again. You bring us so much happiness with your art. I have already said it somewhere else, but I will say it again - I will never be able to fully describe what your pictures mean to me . So let me just say thank you, thank you for everything you are and do for us, Jenny.

2017-10-31 17:13:51 +0000 UTCI certainly hope to fall a lot closer to "every day" rather than "never" in the future!

2017-10-31 17:12:55 +0000 UTCThis has been an amazing month - so many memories brought back. Thank YOU for doing this, and sharing all of these :) Please don't give up art!

2017-10-31 16:46:44 +0000 UTCI am so glad you kept going. I find your art incredible. I accept your own critique, but art doesn't need to be perfect to be worthwhile. I'd absolutely love to see more from you. Remember every day might only have been feasible for a limited period of time, but also that there is a long scale of different options between "every day" and "never". I hope art stays a part of your life and we get to see more of it :)
