Coaster art: Isis unveiled
Added 2016-09-28 15:24:47 +0000 UTCAnother SmArt School output! Gosh, it's incredible how much I'm learning. I'd say the main thing I'm learning is to kill my attitude of "Nyaaah, that'll turn out fine somehow. No need to put in any more work."
The other thing is coasters! Rebecca put us all on to coasters, for small but polished pieces in which to hone compository skills and finish, and in class last night, we joked that Amazon must be scratching their heads about the sudden order flurry for coasters.
After doing a piece of Loki, of course my daughter wanted me to do one of Isis (so both our cats' name patrons were duly honoured). For the face of the goddess, I found Egyptian model Imaan Hammam, who has to be one of the most beautiful creatures on earth.
The title "Isis unveiled" comes from a song from Damh the Bard. (Is the NSA targeting posts with "Isis" in them, by the way?)

2016-10-12 18:02:36 +0000 UTCShe looks amazing! I love that you've chosen a specific model from Egypt as well, as so often images tend to be whitewashed when depicting ancient gods. There's a metal band called Isis as well I believe? I wonder if their followers have had the same problem? XD
