It's done! And yay, am I happy with the colours here. The gel pen was definitely a good asset, too!

By the way, you can view any Patreon piece at full size by clicking right and selecting "view full image". This one really loses a lot of detail in the compression.

I did wonder about simpler clothing, and it has something going for it, but think of it this way round: If Míriel was capable of this sort of embroidery before she ever saw Valinor, just imagine what her embroidery looked like in the Blessed Realm! And hey, can't have them running around in hospital johnnies. Detail painted dark around light always looks better in watercolour than just dark painted *on* light - the huge effort just shows!

I like the way the detail on their clothing is in the negative, with the light against the dark. And the blue color scheme gives the painting a very romantic feel. Also, has anybody else ever wondered where those first elves got their elegant clothing? Of course, it wouldn't really be right to depict them any other way, but given the way that the elves at Cuivienen weren't supposed to be very advanced in craftsmanship yet (except perhaps where language is concerned) I've always been rather curious how they manage to dress so well. Perhaps they awoke that way? ;)

Aaah, now that's a thought that's going to be in my head for a while...

Now we just need one of Elwe and Melian in similar lightning. I love the colours!

Liv Klein

Breathtakingly beautiful. I love the night sky!

"Open in a new tab" does it. Though I just realised I'm probably the only person in the world who has her browser open at only 70% width (I keep losing my line otherwise when I read, haha) so you probably see it zoomed in anyway! :D 1100 is the resolution I have online.

Beautiful, Jenny! Regarding the compression, I have now tried with Chrome, Firefox and MS Internet Explorer, and none of them show a "view full image" option when I right-click. The image I can access is 1100 x 764 px – is there a larger one available? (otherwise it may be because they are already showing me the full image).

Troels Forchhammer

Almost - the palette here is about 75% Ultramarine, 15% turquoise, 5% Indigo and 5% Raw Sienna.

I love the range of warm and cool blues. Did you use some yellow ochre in the reflections of the lake?

Zom

It's a bit like the mirror of Galadriel. It shows Elwë's future - Melian. ^^

Anjuschka

Am I going mad? The guy on the other side of the water to the two elves in the foreground appears only to have a companion in his reflection?
