Why are elves small?

Some children will ask you why Santa's elves are small? And you'll probably answer: that's how they were born. But I'd just like to tell them a story...

It is said in the far north, in the elven villages that border Santa's workshop, that the size of an elf is proportional to his heart, and the more an elf is in love, the bigger he gets. However, elves are naturally unromantic; they live for their work and have no time for love affairs, which is why they are small.

But not all elves are devoid of feelings, some have simply never met the one they love. This was the case with Mélusine, a little elf who had always been smaller than the others because of her shyness. This was to change the day she was chosen by Father Christmas to accompany him on his distribution, her small size allowing her to go wherever she wanted.

As she brought presents to the foot of a Christmas tree, Mélusine was surprised by the eldest son of the family who lived in the house, a handsome young man who wasn't expecting to see an elf in his home. Immediately, something happened inside Mélusine, her heart beat faster and faster, and before she had time to understand, she began to grow, becoming as immense as the living room, making escape impossible.

With a pleading look, she implored the young man not to make any noise, and he, too distraught by what was happening before his eyes, fell silent and moved closer to her to make sure it wasn't a dream...
