An unfortunate update

This post is a sad one, and will require some prefacing that is a little uncomfortable for both of us. We hope that you'll all be understanding.

For the entirety of Dusky Hallow's existence, we (Duski and Hallows) have been a couple. We never denied it or tried to hide this information if asked, but we also never spoke openly about it out of a desire for privacy. At the end of last month, we broke up. We've spent a little time since then processing the breakup in our own ways, and then came the hard part: Discussing Joystick Bliss, and Dusky Hallows as a studio.

As it stands, we agreed that continuing to work on Joystick Bliss is a bad idea. The level of involvement it requires is too painful and impractical for both of us, and we fear that making the attempt would just lead to a similar post being made at a later date.

Out of respect for everyone involved we won't be going into much detail about our relationship or the breakup, but we feel that we owe it to you - our fans and especially our supporters - to explain why the project is ending suddenly and in the way that it is. There's no drama here or animosity, just a sad and very human situation that is going to impact our work in a way that we never wanted it to. We have no hatred for one another, it is simply too much to work on a project as large and involved as Joystick Bliss, and it's likely we'll never be able to resume a project as hands on as this together. We hope you can understand that.

Dusky Hallows as a studio, however, is not necessarily over. We have discussed the possibility of cooperative work that would be less involved - but we have nothing concrete nailed down just yet. Hallows is considering returning to Sanguine Rose, either to re-release the game in Unity with additional content, or to develop another story within the same universe. Depending on the nature of that project, Duski may update previous assets and/or contribute entirely new assets. At this point nothing is certain, but we want to be upfront about what the future may hold. We'll let you know if and when we have more news.

For now, we'd like to apologize to all of you, and thank you for your support through the history of our studio so far, and hopefully your understanding of this difficult situation. We would like to stress that there really are no sides to this, and that we are both rooting for each other to succeed in future projects. If you would like to continue supporting Duski, she has her own patreon and twitter where she promotes her own projects. For now Hallows will be taking over the joint Patreon and Twitter. If you're a patron, your money will still be going to both of us, but there's a good chance we'll be freezing the patreon soon until we figure out what (if any) project we'll be working on.

You'll hear from both of us again, just maybe not together. So for potentially the last time we'd like to say, as a team: Thank you for your continued support.

That's unfortunate, it's a shame things went south for you guys. I hope this project can be revived one day it looked like it had alot heart put into it.
