It's been a while since we last posted, so we wanted to make a quick post with updates on where we're at, why we haven't been posting, and reassure you that we very much are alive, well, and working on Joystick Bliss.
The long and short of it is that December was a pretty rough month for us, between the usual quarantine blues and having to spend the holidays indoors, we fell a bit behind on where we wanted to be work-wise and kept putting off posting until it had become something of a daunting prospect. Coming into the new year we figured we could make up for lost time, and to an extent we've managed that, but while putting our noses to the grindstone we spent another month incommunicado.
So the good news is we're on track and getting more consistent work done than we probably ever have done before, and the bad news is that we weren't telling you. As it stands the playable content that we have has about doubled since November. With our process becoming more and more streamlined I can get a 4,000 word scene written and implemented within a week (sadly I can't spend every week writing). We're also commissioning original music but that's something we'll probably talk about in its own post.
I've added some of what Duski's been working on up top. In her words: "Burgville feels much more like a real place with more environments drawn". In the top picture we get our the first in-world appearance of the player character, albeit from behind, just before they meet Remy for the first time. It's all starting to come together, and it looks great!
This is a return to a more regular posting schedule, so you can expect another post from us at the start of March. Until then, take it easy! - Hallows
