What the hell is Joystick Bliss?

So what the hell is Joystick Bliss? According to the snazzy pictures you just looked at, it is: "A genre mash about sex, explosions, and arcade nostalgia." Now, this obviously answers everything but lets talk about it in more detail anyway. Joystick Bliss is our next project. It's a concept Duski and I have been batting around for a while now, and recently started working on properly. We've kept the details close to our chest until we had something we could actually show, and during that time we received a lot of questions about whether we'd be making another Visual Novel or if there'd be gameplay elements. Even when we revealed the name to some of our patrons, it didn't really clear things up. Y'all kept wondering "What the hell is Joystick Bliss?"

Joystick Bliss is the story of Burgville. Specifically, it's the story of you, the player, an anonymous, sassy, and very confused man* confronted with the cartoonish violence, sexual advances, and insane misadventures of the population of Burgville - A city of unspecified location filled with women* in their early 20s fighting a city-wide turf war over who gets to run the local Arcade, eponymously named: Joystick Bliss.

There'll be laughs, there'll be romance, and there'll be playing the same level of Glyph over and over until you beat the high score and can rub Lena's smug face in it, but most of all it's going to be kinky. We're talking gloryholes, we're talking public humiliation, we're talking roleplay, hypnosis**, and lots of sex toys. If it scored well on any of our kink polls, you can be damn sure we plan to include it.

So if you haven't already, click the link up at the top of this post and play the dialogue UI test. It's pretty bare bones right now, but you can be confident that'll be changing soon.

Okay, let's talk about Remy:

Remy is your guide to Burgville and Joystick Bliss. She has a fascination with explosives, and a very forward personality. You're going to get on with her like a house on fire, which, coincidentally, it probably will be most of the time. Of the four main characters the player will be able to romance, Remy is the only one who isn't devoted to a single faction in the turf war. She has charged you, a total stranger, with bringing peace back to Burgville. Why you? Because she already asked everyone else. They said no. She's putting a roof over your head and has a very loose definition of 'dressed' though, so you're not complaining.

Aside from Remy, there are the faction heads:

• Lena - The reserved and perpetually tired leader of the Bullet-Hell club. When she's not shitposting on /x/ about alien probings, she's at the internet cafe practising her paths. Owns a lot of leashes for someone who doesn't have a dog.

• Amelia - It takes a firm hand to keep the Light Gunners in line, and there are few firmer than Amelia's. A history buff with a penchant for knowing just how to punish and reward her troops, Knowledge is power, which is why her only approved safewords have seven syllables.

• Sasha - Hoeing isn't easy, but what's the point in having it if you ain't gonna flaunt it. Self-appointed Queen of the Rhythm club, resident mega bitch of Burgville, and all round diva. Back in school she was voted most likely to crush a man to death with her thighs, and she hasn't disappointed anyone yet.

That's it for the characters and world (for now at least) so I'll wrap up the asterisks I left hanging then be on my way.

*While currently the player is male and all the romanceable characters are female, we would like to change this further down the line. This is just how we're starting.

**Hypnosis here is not mind control. We're not into noncon so this is firmly a roleplay and enhancing sex life thing. Everything in Joystick Bliss is between consenting adults doing lewd acts because they want to.
