Quick Update - Demo Project 29/4/25

Howdy friends,

Hope everybody is keeping well as always.

Just wanted to give a little update on the demo project. The original idea for the video was to be an overview of pretty much everything PS1 Demo Disc related from all three regions, but naturally as I researched the topic, so many interesting bits of information came up and my absolute need to detail as much as possible in a video, just made the idea of covering well... everything... a terrible idea. One of the channels strengths is covering pockets of PlayStation history from specific developers to one-off topics, and I feel if I wanted to do the demo scene the justice it deserves, it would be better served by doing one-off videos covering different aspects of demo history. A one-off video on Net Yaroze, a one-off video on Official PlayStation magazine discs, underground, Japanese disc etc. Each topic has buckets worth of fun things to talk about, so for now, at least that's the plan for the future.

So for this current video, I've decided to focus the topic entirely on 'Demo 1' a line-up of discs included as a pack-in for the original model of the PS1 in PAL regions. There are 7 different versions of the disc, highlighting a whole bunch of PlayStation games from around 95-98, and in particular, the style and aesthetic of these discs, I feel, is very important to the PAL PlayStation identity. I've always felt strongly that the EU, North American and Japanese sides of PlayStation has different brand identities and no single disc is more representative of the PAL PlayStation vibe than Demo 1, so it should be nostalgic for my PAL friends, and hopefully informative for everybody else, but either way we'll be looking at a lot of games and menus, and that to me a is a fun time, so hopefully you'll think so too!

It should be out before the end of the week. For now, please enjoy this little promo vid I put together for the full thing, because when I edit a big video for a long time, somehow editing a smaller promo video helps me unwind from all the eh... editing (I don't know why I'm like this)
