June Update/Preview 2024

Heya everyone! Preview time!

So, it’s a small preview, but it’s the rejected opening for the next chapter. Just wasn’t working for me, and when I sat down to redo it, I smashed the scene out in one sitting. I am planning at least half the chapter from Morgan’s perspective, though, and I did write a full scene and a couple really good parts with her perspective already.

Yes, the writing has begun anew! I found a nice, quiet corner in the old farmhouse I’m now occupying that I can set up in and just go ham on my work, away from all my distractions and everyone else. It’s great. I’ve even started doing warm up work again, so I may have more stuff to share eventually? Maybe?

So, yeah. Like I said in the vlog, I’m in Canada and helping set up the farm. It’s a lot of work, but the initial set up of any project is a lot of work. I’m still clearing the neglected fields, and I’ve got two left to hit with the tractor, then I can go over them with a smaller mower to get the grass down even lower. We gotta do this to keep ticks and rats and stuff away, but the kinda grass we’re trying to get rid of is an invasive type, that’s not even good as hay. Apparently. Dad and I have built some nice high garden beds for mom, so she doesn’t have to kneel down while she’s planting and stuff. Yeah, gardening is mom’s problem. We’re also building a new workshop, and we’re up to the roof now. And I hate roofing. I’m afraid of heights lol.

We’re getting our first animals soon, next month. Gonna get some meat chickens, and they’ll hopefully be ready for eating by early October. I haven’t cleaned a chicken in a real long time. I’ll tell you all about the trauma when it happens.

Been working on some warhammer painting, too, in my downtime. I definitely need something chill like that at the end of a day of hard farm work. Been working on some Battle Sisters. Because nuns with guns are awesome. I wanna paint some Dwarves, too, but they’re still on a ship somewhere.

My mom and I also just went to an antique store’s big sale event, and it was so damn cool. I got this beautiful painting of a Spanish lady for next to nothing, and my mom found a really nice old wash basin cabinet. I gotta do some restoration work, then it’s gonna be gorgeous. Just need to sand the stain and scratches and stuff off it, and put on a new coat and it’ll look amazing. I’m actually super stoked to get to start wood-working again. I haven’t been able to for like a decade now because of my messed up hands. Kinda gotta relearn everything lmao.

Okay, enough blathering from me. Gonna do some more writing tonight after I work, hopefully get some more good shit done.
