Preview/Update 19/06/22

Morning all! Long time no see, huh? Sorry, that’s my bad, but have some new Self Insert preview goodness, fresh off the press!

So I have news. I have neutral, good, and bad news.

Neutral news is that I’ve decided that if I can’t get something substantial done by the end of June, I’m putting a temporary hold on Patreon so no one is charged again until I remove the hold. Y’all have been super supportive over the last six months, but this is something for my benefit; I feel terrible taking money and not getting anything done, no matter my circumstances. So, yeah. No new chapter, Patreon temporarily gets taken down.

The bad news is just personal stuff for me, but if you follow me on Twitter you’ll know I recently had to put down my cat. We’d had Cooper for twenty-three years, and he was very much a part of the family, but it was his time. He lived a good life, and the vet even said he’d never even heard of a house cat living as long as he did. But, even in the end, he went out as he lived; as a defiant little shit. He clawed the vet, and then took a whole four times the normal dose to finally do him in. Little bastard was a Chad til the end, and we all miss him dearly. That’s why I didn’t post at the end of last month. Was still kinda sad. Here’s the last picture I took of him:

Onto lighter topics, though! Good news abounds! So, I’ve cut ties with the ‘pain management’ clinic because, well, they were a fucking joke. However! I’m happy to report that my back is actually doing better now. We changed a bunch of things at work, I got a stupidly expensive osteopathic mattress, and I’m feeling much better. My pain levels are down, I’m sleeping through the night, a whole eight hours on some nights even, for the first time in years, and I’m even weaning myself off the opioid painkillers that have been fucking me up so bad. It’s honestly still way too soon to get too excited, but it’s a big step in the right direction, at least.

I’ve also moved into a new place! My brother and I are splitting the rent on a small house not far from where we were staying with our parents, and it’s so damn good to have my own space again. If I get this chapter done, I’ll do a vlog and do a little virtual tour. The place is turning into a real nerd haven lol.

And I’m finally producing writing of substance again! Wee! I sat down this evening and churned out an entire scene, from which this preview is taken. It’s also the first time in a long time I was actually happy with what I’d written, too. So! If all goes according to plan, I can get this chapter of the Self Insert done this month, then move on to the Three Houses story I started, then actually FINISH this story arc of Dark I’ve left y’all hanging on for so long, and… yeah. Hopefully return to some semblance of normality.

God, wouldn’t that he nice? Lol.

Okay! So it’s all onwards and upwards from here! God I hope this momentum lasts… wish me luck!
