Preview/Update 18/10/21

I actually remembered to get this update done on time this week! Progress! Have one last look at the next Dark chapter.

So, the draft of Dark is done, it’s with Rice, but I’m very unhappy with it. To the point that I don’t even want to put up an unedited draft, because good lord this one needs some TLC. I’m struggling with Velne. Not just writing from her perspective, but also just as a character in general. I’m hoping to give her a little more time in the spotlight in coming chapters, really give her the character arc we started on back in the desert, but if that doesn’t work I’m not gonna hold on, I’m gonna have to write her out. For the good of the story. It’s the worst-case scenario; like I said, hopefully giving her a little more time to shine will change my mind, because I like her. I like what she has the potential to bring to the cast. My problem is getting her there.

Don’t worry, I’m not just gonna kill her off, though. That would be a dick move lol.

I’m planning on starting the canon self insert tomorrow night. I’ve got the first half of the chapter all worked out, but after that I’ll be pantsing things and seeing where my muse takes me. Wish me luck!

I’ve returned to painting in the last couple days, too. Mostly because I’ve been getting so frustrated with this Dark chapter I’ve needed a break sometimes. I’m kinda revisiting my Living City Age of Sigmar army, but giving it a lot more Oldhammer flair with some Avelorn inspired color schemes. Unfortunately, Avelorn never got any waterslide transfers. So I’m stuck freehanding all the symbols and runes. It is not fun. What’s that? My Anvilgard Pirate army? I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m definitely working on four armies at once. Nope. Not at all.

I don’t really think I’ve done much else of note over the last week. I went to get an MRI of my back on Friday, which was not fun. Just to catch new patrons up; I have a severely herniated disk in my lower spine that has been causing me immense and constant pain for the last year or so, so I’m getting that shit fixed. But! Amazing how a ‘ten minute procedure’ turns into an hour of waiting around in a drafty, paper-thin gown. Also, I’m one of those people that absolutely has to move or twitch or something when he’s told to hold perfectly still, so the ten minutes I actually spent in that big tube were absolute torture for me. I don’t sit still well lol.

Okay, enough moaning from me for another week. Dark by the end of the week, canon SI hopefully soon after. Thanks for another week of support, and Nagaspeed!
