Preview/Update 99
Added 2020-10-10 16:43:40 +0000 UTCMornin’, y’all! How’re things? Hope you’re doing good. As voted for by you, the people, last month have a glimpse of Dark!Ben and Raven storming Gangrel’s palace.
So, I didn’t forget to do my update last week. I just didn’t feel it necessary so soon after the vlog. In the world of my writing: I’m behind on Dark, but I’m hoping I can still get it in close to the 14th. I foresee no major issues with canon SI, and the poll for how the crew escape from the pirates has been decided. A Matter of Pride remains goofy and fun. Hopefully I’ll have another chapter length chunk of that, soon, too.
Oh, and I also updated my profile image to possibly the best picture taken of me in the last ten years (which is weird, because I distinctly remember feeling sick as a dog when it was taken). With an artsy greyscale over top of it. Makes me feel more professional.
I watched a video essay today asking the question if Superman is still relevant. It actually really made me rethink where I was going with the canon SI, and I’m gonna talk a lot about that in this month’s vlog. But it was a real eye opener for me, which has reminded me of the importance of not just consuming other people’s works, but also thinking critically about them, about well established tropes, and about how it all fits together. Writing is really a lot harder than I make it sound sometimes lol.
Aside from that, I’ve been painting minis and binge watching Netflix’s She-Ra and old Scooby Doo episodes. Both great shows. Ya know, I was really critical about She-Ra when it was first announced and came out, and although I’m late to the party god damn I have never been happier to be proven wrong in my life. And Scooby Doo is just great, no matter how old I get. Made me nostalgic for the old Scooby games I played on my game boy way back when. ... god I’m old.
