An Enforced Change in the Frequency of Charmed Reactions (+ tier change)

So the copyright owners of Charmed have decided to block the last reaction I uploaded on my channel after publication. The fair use reactions for a 40 minute show can take me up to 7 hours to complete (+2-3 hours of rendering), so when they start blocking reactions that have already been published, that’s when I have a big problem.

I’ve spent hours with some of the episodes (that they’ve blocked before publication), battling to get them up onto YouTube, so I was already starting to feel like I’d have to switch to doing less reactions to it, now I’m definitely going to do that.

The same thing happened to another show I was doing (Derry Girls) and I quit that show entirely. That’s how difficult it makes things. 

Just to say, I can deal with reactions being blocked, it's part of the life of a reactor, but when they're making it difficult for almost every reaction, and particularly when they block reactions 24 hours after publication, that's when the situation becomes too time consuming to deal with. 

I don’t want to put out half-baked reactions using like 2 minutes of footage of a 40 minute show, in tiny segments, to get it through copyright. I know some reactors are fine with that (usually reaction 'groups'  who can fill the empty space with conversations between each other, or individual reactors who have the abiltly to pause the reaction to fill those empty spaces) but I’ve never been about that. I take pride in my edits, and I want them to be as close as possible to a full reaction as I can make them.

Anyway, I don’t particularly want to disappoint everyone who has followed my reactions to this show on YouTube, by continuing ‘full steam ahead’ on here, and only uploading select episodes on there. I did that once with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, but I felt really guilty for doing it (so much so  that when I had the time, I actually edited a whole bunch of old reactions to post on YouTube), so I’d rather not go down that path again.

I’ve decided, therefore, to do one reaction to Charmed each month (on here) and to change the tier to make it accessible from tier 1 (the $1 tier), just as I’m doing with Parks and Recreation (for the same reason).

I don’t want to quit the show, so doing 1/month and putting it at the lowest tier is a way to keep going with it.

Anyway, I’ll do at least a couple more this month and then I’ll switch to one/month, starting next month. Don’t forget to change your pledge in time. Make sure you do that before March 1st.

I really hope those here for Charmed reactions aren’t too disappointed, and that you feel that one/month at the $1 tier is still decent value for your pledge. If not, I really appreciate you joining me for the reactions we’ve already done, and there will still be fair use uploads to YouTube (albeit infrequent), so long as I continue with the show.

Provided there are 1 or 2 people still watching each month, I’ll continue with the show. I have no immediate plans to quit it. I don’t know if I’ll still be doing reactions 10+ years from now, so it might be that we don’t finish it, but at least this way I won’t have to stop doing Charmed entirely.
