Avoid Apple’s 30% Patreon Fee!
Added 2025-02-27 08:51:24 +0000 UTCI recently noticed that one of my patrons was charged $14.50 for a $10 tier, which confused me at first. After looking into it, I realized they had subscribed through the Patreon iOS app, and Apple automatically takes a 30% cut on all in-app purchases.
This extra fee doesn’t go to Patreon or creators—Apple keeps it all.
How to Avoid the Fee:
Use a desktop or Android device to make any Patreon payments.
Do NOT subscribe or upgrade tiers via the iOS app.
Who Does This Affect?
Existing patrons with automatic payments? You’re fine.
Upgrading your tier? Use a desktop/Android.
New subscriber? Sign up on the Patreon website.
Canceling & resubscribing? Do it outside the iOS app.
Can I Still Use the Patreon App?
Yes! You can like posts, comment, and browse as usual—just don’t make any payments there.

Yes, it should work in any web browser :) As long as the payments are not made via the iOS app, it would be fine.
