Patreon Content for the New Year!

Hi everyone! I hope you have a peaceful, lovely end of the year. I wanted to run something by you guys for what to expect next on here. First, some context:
I’ve been having a slow-motion epiphany over the last few weeks while trying to come off my breakdown (see this post for those who missed it). At the day job, I do art for my company. On the furry side, I do commissions and comics that have a set story/direction that I’m committed to. All these projects have something in common, but I couldn’t quite figure out how it was related to my struggles to feel better. Then I had a moment of clarity.
I’m not… doing any personal art! There’s just no room!
I never draw my sona anymore, make new characters, and have shelved several ideas/stories. What I once thought of as no big deal and a hindrance to my productivity anyway, I’m starting to consider the absence of creativity unrelated to how I make money as detrimental to my well-being. Thus, leaking into my professional work too. All my work takes longer than normal because I have a harder time with it, which means that my Patreon content and quantity of output suffer.
It isn’t the most comfortable thing to express because I feel like I’m being ungrateful for my career that is largely creative work. Work is still work though, and I’m bound by rules and the will of others in every corner. I think for me to get back to a healthy relationship with everything I make, I NEED to make room for open creativity, which means changing some of my Patreon content.
I want to indefinitely stop the character Q&A. The Q&A is a lot harder on me than it seems. Because I have to sift through all the questions, make sure I’m being accurate with character traits and background, coming up with something fresh but within canon, etc. it doesn’t have a natural flow; it has a structure. And art-wise, my life right now is nothing but structure. I know the Q&A is fun for you guys (which is why I’ve been putting off admitting this), but I am at my limit on my capacity for creative labor right now and it would be a big relief on me if I could just release it from haunting me.
In replacement, I would use this section to fill in my own personal art and new polls/games/Patron engagement. I could do little comics about my life, random new characters and stories, sketches, request polls, and more. They would still be furry-esque, so you can still expect similar content to what you came here for, just not always specifically related to the interns comics!
My theory is that… if you guys give me the leeway to pad bonus content on Patreon with open personally-driven stuff… this could potentially ignite future projects, pick up the speed in which I can get through the commission line, and grease the rusty wheels on the comics.
I love my day job, and I do not see it ending in the near future because I keep getting pulled into interesting projects that I'm proud to be a part of. I never actually redid my schedule to accommodate it in tandem with Patreon/commission content, which used to be my only focus. If I'm gonna get through this and find a new balance, I need to make some room for myself in order to keep consistency for you. I hope that's okay. It matters a LOT to me because Patreon is literally my financial stability. The day job would not be able to sustain me alone so if pitted against Patreon, Patreon would win with zero hesitation. (many artist get paid beans irl). But I WANT to pull off both if I can...
So, if you guys are cool with it... starting up from here, Patreon will consist of Main Comic, Side Comic, Commissions, and personal content. I'll do my best to keep it heartfelt, entertaining, and spicy for you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read, I hope you have a nice weekend and more to come soon! If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment.

Go for it, I don't know about everyone. But I wholeheartedly encourage your need for posting personal content in whatever capacity. I may not personally interact with it or look through it all the time. But that doesn't mean I and many others won't look at it and show an interest in it. It simply may not be as popular. Or hell, it could even garner enough attention for its own side project or investment. The point is, I can't imagine you giving life to your personal projects to be a bad thing unless you completely neglect your main focus or some such nonsense. Either way, you do you and have fun. Nobody wants boring stale content, variety is the spice of life.

2022-12-04 20:39:25 +0000 UTCAlways appreciate the level of honesty you always show Jack. While It's not something I'd have thought of off the top of my head. That makes total sense. So I'm whole heartedly behind the change if it's a positive step for you.

2022-12-04 05:20:50 +0000 UTCI'll admit, I am a little disappointed that the Q&A isn't coming back, as that always a little fun slice of life for the characters. But you know what, you're absolutely right! I almost NEVER see anything that was just for YOU. I had ZERO idea what your fursona even looked like for at least two years! It makes total sense, deciding a change like this. We're so focused on the day-to-day lives of the creations, we lose sight of the day-to-day lives of THE CREATOR. So, I'm thrilled to hear about this chance, as not only would it be a great way to express yourself and change your pace, but even better opportunity for me to get to know you; as I don't know a damn thing about you, and that's sad!! I hope this will be a great window of opportunity, one that shines both ways.

2022-12-03 22:12:33 +0000 UTCI support those changes 100%, plus it's very interesting to see your own ideas as well. So the viewers have things to look forward to they don't expect. You are no machine to produce art, you are an individual and individuals need to express themselves without restrictions. So you make a good decision with that. The Q&A is nice, but I understand it's not easy to maintain. Doing YCHs from time to time is also a good idea wo create your own ideas and use your own characters. You could even use Jack for them. I wouldn't mind seeing more art of your handsome dingoat, for sure. ;) In any case, I hope everything will work out well for you and I will definitely continue to support you.

2022-12-03 17:08:13 +0000 UTCMy Friend.. because I think of you as such. My contribution via Patreon is to support YOU, doing the things you love. Not to dictate what you do. Even if you decided to do The Intern in black and white I would be happy. Please do what you enjoy doing and let us be with you on that journey. Sincerely.. Marcwolf
