It seems that Coop's in a very conflicting state atm, although there's several different things he could be conflicted about. Maybe it's him being conflicted about wether he likes Andy or River, or he's conflicted about wether or not he's ready to come out of the closet. Definitely looking forward to seeing how he internalizes this night going forward! Also, I'm hoping Andy eventually sees his flaws in his recent actions, and maybe it'll have to take direct confrontation from someone for him to realize that. It definitely looks like Chelsea's catching onto something, knowing Andy was frantic the entire night up until now, so we shall see. And one more thing, I'm looking forward to seeing how this affects things between them going forward. They've always been a sort of Ying-Yang sort of pair, two that can't exist without the other, yet never really pairing quite perfectly. I think its been prevalent since SG and WB. And although I do wish we knew a bit more about River and his story, he seems to be very positive and open about himself, which may be what Coop needs to comfortably come out of the closet. But who knows! Perhaps both Andy and Coop need some time with others to really discover what they both really want (and, in Andy's case, potentially include a certain spaghetti fiend 😉) Also, River recycles. That alone deserves an applause 👏😆 Keep up the great storytelling, Jack! You definitely have me invested lmao

Yeah when I said "Simp" I was referring to fans. Not characters. The characters are responding how one would at a party with charismatic people involved. I was talking about the illogical obsession people have with River in the comments and how they keep comparing River and Andy (While making shitty comments about the latter) when we barely know anything about River, and how he's only a recent addition to the story.

I dont think any of the characters are "simping" over River. They have that classic, infectious type-A personality that's fun to hang around with. Chelsea, Jen and Gary appreciate how friendly and positive River has been at the party and are simply enjoying their company. As for Andy, he's got dependency issues. I would argue his portrayal up until this volume has basically been almost all positive, so it makes sense to introduce (or rather make it more apparent than before) a character flaw that he can overcome in his narrative arc. River is bound to have an issue of their own to overcome as well but that's just my guess. At the end of the day, it's just a story and there's no need to get so upset over it.

I would respond to all of this but wow, I can't. "Objective thoughts' is a contradictory pairing for a reason. You really need to calm down.

Objective Thoughts, River Simps won't like: Andy isn't some sexfiend bad guy. River isn't some angel. We barely know anything about him, other than he's good at biting and scrapping, and dancing. There's literal years of history between Andy and Cooper that people are choosing to ignore in favor of their headcanons involving Cooper and River. Fact is, we don't know what will happen. Andy is dealing with a lot of sort of Stockholm syndrome crap when it comes to Cooper. He loves the guy, and cares about him, and has known him for most of their lives. Cooper has relentlessly bullied Andy their entire friendship and childhood. Our first introduction into Cooper was him (literally) sexually assaulting Andy by groping him without consent and knowing he was about to go on stage. Cooper has, on multiple occasions, led Andy on. (Including many instances in side comics which I'm sure at this point, a lot of you have not read). Up till the point River was introduced, the same people simping over River were always sympathetic towards what Andy was dealing with and then turned 180 as soon as that femboy character was introduced and suddenly Andy became some bad guy and Coop became some "misunderstood guy that River was trying to help" (Literally the same exact shit Andy was doing for Cooper. But because Andy isn't some sexualized twink trope, certain people couldn't care less). These past few pages have honestly made me, a reader of this series since it's very beginning, go "Wtf is wrong with these people?" and wonder when their brains got replaced by their hard-ons. If your opinions are easily swayed by sexuality, perhaps you should examine that, and not bitch at me for pointing this stuff out and attacking me because my opinion doesn't match yours. Andy isn't perfect. He's made plenty of mistakes, but never fucked up as bad as Cooper has. Yet people toss Andy under the bus because of these last few pages (Which feel like an eternity to me by now) and completely ignore the past between Coop and Andy, and the side comic information provided to us for critical thinking.

We've reached a point where your aggression toward characters with more feminine traits are making me uncomfortable. I really appreciate the time you've taken to support the comics and give the story a chance, but I wanted to let you know that this attitude towards "twinks" is unsettling for me and feels rooted in a larger bias against individuals similar to River. If reading this has become an unpleasant experience for you, there's no harm in waiting til the comic's completion to finish up the story. I understand the frustration toward River and it's totally fine to express your opinion about an individual character, but I would be really appreciative if the blame wasn't thrust toward anyone in general who would be perceived as a "twink". It seems like Andy was worried at first about the hug and then derived satisfaction from the fact that Cooper seems unsure. I think that Andy is misinterpreting Cooper's discomfort with the recent situation as discomfort with River.

That's not a smirk. Thats a wistful expression. You should learn to read expressions and body language better. A smirk is usually associated with drawn down eyebrows and a grin, with drawn up corners of the the mouth. If anything the expression Andy has atm is one of contemplation or thought. Which is pretty apparent from the previous panel literally right before. But sure. Stay in your "Andy is a bad guy" world. Why do you think the little thoughtful "Hm." is right next to Andy?

River doesn't need to see through it. Cooper outright admitted to it. Actually he said more than I expected since he openly admitted he didn't know if he was outright gay to River, when I thought it was pretty clear he's bisexual (he may actually be).

Wow, this page made me tear up a little. River is so thoughtful and compassionate, and I'm glad that they gave Cooper some heartfelt reassurance. I definitely could have used a friend like that when I was younger and struggling to accept myself. I'm very eager to find out what present they gave Cooper. Regarding Andy, I really want to wipe that smug smile off of his face. If he truly cares about Cooper, he needs to stop behaving like a petulant child. It's understandable to feel jealous considering the fact that he has supported Cooper numerous times (e.g. helping Cooper graduate from high school, helping Cooper deal with panic attacks, and letting Cooper live with him), but he acted very irrationally, which will certainly result in repercussions for him in the near future. Looking forward to the next page!

I love the second frame of Cooper and River's goodbye hug. The speech bubble words become smaller and the bubble line goes all squiggly, making it feel like she's hanging onto the hug for just a bit longer and whispering to give Cooper some much needed reassurance and hope. River seems to see through the facade Coop is putting up, and wants him to know that he won't be judged if he decides to open up to them and just allow himself to pursue his feelings on his terms. I hope he really takes that to heart, I personally know just how hard it can be to accept that you might not actually be totally rejected for coming out and being yourself for the first time in your life. It's so nerve wracking to feel like you're risking all of your relationships for the sake of trying to be authentic to yourself.

The "I'm off at eleven" line has me thinking there's more going on with River and Coop.

Aghhh the ears say so much on this page.... A lot of mixed feelings and tension exists still but the falling action for Volume 3 feels THICC But I think my favorite part of this page is that River feels safe with the crew. There is hope in the air that everything will be alright, and they want to share that with Cooper. That He can be safe too. And Coop recognizes that Andy is a wild card in this scenario, and it offers just enough uncertainty to mingle with the possibility of being more of himself than ever before... Everything is far from resolved but this page really struck a chord in me, leaving me with bittersweet feelings, and I got a sample of that hope too. This page is a great way to start my day.
