Hellooooo friends! Welcome to 2021! I’m not much of a party animal myself, but I love New Years. I know we just made up the calendar and nothing REALLY changes between yesterday and today besides a number, but there is something about the concept of starting fresh with a new blank canvas that feels so freeing. To me, New Years is about an internal celebration, a second chance, and a breath of new inspiration. And after all we’ve been through, the feeling is all the sweeter to embrace.

Before the Pandemic, I balanced my day job and Patreon job together in harmony. I wasn’t posting quite as quickly, but the flow stayed relatively consistent. As much as I’d like to keep going and give you full time work, there is one serious matter that prevents me from making the leap into full-time freelance: my health insurance. You could imagine how important that factor is in making decisions at this time. While I am still furloughed, I have decided to remain employed and see how things pan out when I go back to work.

Presently, there is no definite return date for me. I have been sitting in the dark since March 2020. I wish I could tell you more, but I am just as clueless myself. When I have any more information about potential changes in my schedule, I will let you all know ASAP. I also may be moving this year in order to feel a little more secure, which would take a chunk out of my time to physically accomplish. I'll keep ya posted!

Before the Pandemic (sorry I keep having to say that), Patrons would vote on charities and a portion of my Patreon earnings would go to the winning organization. This was manageable for me financially til I lost my day job. My income suddenly became smaller and unpredictable. I had to adjust to being much more financially cautious, and unfortunately had to stop proposing donations. Because we are not out of the woods yet, I am not quite comfortable with utilizing finances for nonprofits as often as I used to. When I can afford it again, I would love to get back on track with that! Like the work issue, I’ll just have to keep you posted when I have any new info. Thank you for understanding!

Any New Years resolutions? I'd love to hear them in the comments! Personally, mine are to wrangle my anxiety back to a comfortable, manageable level. I would also like to read more, stretch more, write more stories! Here's hoping we can all keep our resolutions going for as long as we can :3
