If he is truly confused and in denial, which is often how this stuff plays out, he wouldn’t be lying in that regard. When faced with such inner turnoil, people panic and will desperately try to maintain the status quo. At some point, the truth finally comes into view, but it can take some time for that to happen.

Please Coop, use that time jump to do soul searching and not lying to Chelsea. Aside from needing to be honest with yourself and others, Chelsea doesn't deserve to be lied to like that.
