I guess that the real difficulty is to have an artistic coherence between all the species and the environment around the plot. So, if diversity is always welcome, do what seems best, and what you would like to do!

Personally I think it would be nice to have a few characters that werent canines around, you dont have to drop dogs completely, but some cats or horses ect. would add a fair amount of variety.
