Shield update

Salvete friends!

As I promised you guys here is a short shield update. The package had gone missing somewhere in Germany, so I feared the worst that the package was lost. Fortunately, the package was insured and the sender got his money back and then he would made a new shield for us. To my great surprise, the package was found without me being notified.

Marc has now ordered authentic paint, and Alain has ordered a new book from which we can get inspiration for a historically correct 3rd century shield design.

We are looking for a shield design of a unit or cohort that has been in our region or near our region. This becomes difficult because the evidence is of course nil. But that is the best thing about our hobby: turning over every stone to gain new insights.

Let me show you a few shield designs from the book. As you can see, the images are very beautiful and detailed. We suspect that these were possible parade shields that were only displayed on special occasions like a victory parade. I will keep you informed of our search!
