Salvete Patreons,
As you already know, Alain is the handyman of our group. He makes our clothing, military belts and the many props you see in our videos.
He has started a squamata armor project, recreated from the late Roman time. These were, as you can see in the last two images, longer than previous models. The length is about mid-thigh.
The armor consists of about 4.500 plates, connected in rows with a brass wire. When a row is finished, it is stitched to the linen with a wax thread. An extra rope is stitched through the top holes over the entire length to make the row stronger.
It is a time-consuming and occasionally frustrating project.
Once the base of the armor is finished, some detachable sleeves might be added, or maybe a detachable coif.
What would you like to see? Sleeves or a coif?
