I wanted to do my primary shading the way I usually do, darkening folds and creases and muscle tone and so on. Then, in order to really drive home the effect of seeing a floor-facing body from below, I did a second shading layer by copy and pasting the flats for this shot, alpha locking and darkening the entire figure, and then setting the layer to multiply and reducing it down. Not seen here: I next used a soft airbrush to “push” the edges of this full shadow in from the outer lines of the figure, creating a deeper, form-fitted shadow along the inner space where the light mostly does not touch. The final version will be in the final pages when I post them, likely tomorrow!
