New files & instructions: DrinksBot BR-2U

Here's the latest addition to the MicroDroid series, the BR-2U, drink bot!. This is a track droid which can carry two drink cans and has a deployment mechanism including opening doors and lifting the cans! It also fits any of the Baby Astromechs, for customisation, features steering arms, dome turning as well as the can mech. I will be adding many custom greebles and as always, share the fusion files for those wishing to create there own unique version.

If you've not seen this fella in action, here's a link to the youtube video.

Awesome, I know many of your files don't require supports Is this true also for the very large files in this build? For example like the main body has a split version and then there's a full all-in-one version. Could you print the large version without supports? Also are the STL files already pre-oriented to optimal positions or should we optimize it further when we open it up in our slicer? Thanks in advance and awesome project

David M

If I print the body using the file that has all the separate pieces, what do I use to put them together? I see all the holes in the pieces but what would you recommend?

Hello, where i can find the Baby Astromechs files for the Drinks Bot ? THX

Andreas Wadamahaarda

I have the same problem. I can't seem to find the files.

Joe Zimmerman

Heyho. My Status is dedicated supporter here, but I can not see the files. But I love the Beerdroid so much. Would like to print it

Hilmar Rüter

What wall and infill settings would you recommend for a Prusa mk3s for the main frames, this bot looks amazing, I can't wait to print it.

Philip Dawson

Thanks right.

Michael Baddeley

Hi, just looking through the parts needed for when I put it all together. Do we need 4 of the MG996R servos as the list only says 2. Do you need 2 for the can lift and another 2 for the steering arms of the droid?

Adrian James

Hence the large files, you can export on defaults and you’ll get the 11mb file. The file size differs depending on the model surface. Green top is complex with lots of curves.

Michael Baddeley

Depends on the export settings on Fusion, I’ve turned mine up high so the guys printing in Resin get a clean print without any flat ‘triangular’ surfaces, I tend to export at high resolution now as standard as printers improve.

Michael Baddeley

I have downloaded all the files but there appears to be a problem with one of the Greeble files. GreebleTop.stl downloads as a 520MB file!! I created this stl file from the Fusion 360 files and it seems fine at 11MB. Puzzling.

Thanks for your prompt reply. At the moment I am just thinking ahead. I will be using the standard MG996R so I will wait until it is built and then play around with the servo horn lever if required. Thanks.

Dr David Edley

It’s set to work with the standard MG996R, you raise a good point I hadn’t considered though. It’s a direct link so there isn’t a way of independently controlling the Max / Min limits. There’s two options I can immediately think of, firstly running the arms on another channel and using channel mixing on the remote, which would give independence but still automatic animation. Also the servo horn (round part which glues on), I could do a couple of versions which give a small, medium (current) and larger movement by the length of the lever. Are you having specific issues or thinking ahead?

Michael Baddeley

Hi. I am in the process of building this model. I think I understand the way the ESC and the arm servo mix works from the RC controller but I can't see how to set up the end limits on the servo movements without also altering the output to the ESC. Thanks Dave

Dr David Edley

3203 motors.

Michael Baddeley

I can't tell from the instructions, do you want the pololu 4843 or 3203 motors?
